Alpheus Communications Opens New Dallas-Based Office

By admin, July 17, 2012 8:19 pm

This week, the management of Alpheus Communications?(News – Alert) has announced the opening of a new office in the Dallas metro area. The company – for those of you who are not familiar with them – describes its services and the expansion in the following terms:?

“Since 2000, America’s largest telecom carriers have relied on Alpheus’ fiber network to serve their Texas customers, and Alpheus is now offering the same carrier-grade, low-latency services directly to businesses. The strong DFW economy and thriving business community is driving the fast-growing need for high-quality networking solutions in North Texas. With a fully redundant and resilient core fiber network, Alpheus’ newly added enterprise services includes Metro Ethernet, MPLS, E-LAN and business-class voice services. All Alpheus services provide the performance and uptime guarantee required for mission-critical data, voice and video traffic. Alpheus’ multiple data centers with scalable connectivity to its fiber network and SSAE-16 compliant platform give businesses the secured, scalable and redundant infrastructure for disaster recovery and business continuity applications.”

While the company seems to have a handle on what businesses need, there is a real difference in the needs of businesses and the needs of consumers, so this expansion is a little bit of a stretch for the organization. The company appointed Justin Shively as division manager for the new Dallas office. In the release, put out by Layne Levine, senior vice president, enterprise and channel sales, for Alpheus Communications, the following was said about the appointment, “Justin has a proven track record in our industry, and he will be an extremely valuable asset to Alpheus’ aggressive growth strategy. Not only does Alpheus have the high-quality, high-capacity fiber network and metro reach that businesses are looking for, we are agile and responsive to our customers’ needs. We are a Texas company focused on serving Texas businesses.”?

Will the venture be a success? In the end, only time will tell.

Inland Fiber & Data Joins Oracle Partner Network

By admin, December 14, 2011 11:38 pm

Inland Fiber & Data, an owner and operator of data center, colocation and disaster recovery facilities in Florida and Colorado, recently reported a stronger tie with Oracle (News – Alert), as the computer technology giant welcomes Inland Fiber & Data into its PartnerNetwork family.

An expert in data center, colocation, data suites and disaster recovery technologies, IF&D was born with the mission to perform the role of a trusted partner who will protect organization’s data and provide disaster recovery. The company provides wholesale data center, private data suites and traditional colocation services through its facilities in Winter Haven, Florida and Denver, Colorado. IF&D is also a provider of Private Cloud Services including hosted storage through its “Storage On A Wire” Solution.

IF&D’s SSAE 16 compliant, carrier grade facilities with fiber rich environments suit organizations seeking geo-security and system flexibility, IF&D claimed in a press release. Situated in the geographic center of Florida at 168 feet above sea-level and outside the 500-year flood zone, its Winter Haven facility includes over 40,000 square feet of data center and disaster recovery space and approximately 45,000 square feet of carrier and telco hotel facilities.

IF&D’s relationship with oracle is an extension of the company’s relation with Pillar Data Ssystems, a storage technology expert. Earlier this year, Oracle acquired Pillar Data Systems (News – Alert). IF&D provides data suite, colocation and “Storage on a Wire” hosted storage solutions for Pillar’s Axiom data storage system.

“IF&D inclusion in the Oracle PartnerNetwork provides our organization and clients with best practices support from a global category leader. In our ongoing effort to ensure best of breed data center services and technology solutions for our clients, IF&D continues to develop strategic partnerships, relationships, and alliances with top solutions providers in multiple areas of expertise to complement all facets of IF&D core services,” IF&D’s Steve Sowards noted in a statement.

In November, in a breakthrough initiative, IF&D facilitated a robotic microsurgical vaso-vasostomy/vaso-epididymostomy procedure online to an international audience of surgeons specializing in different fields.

The procedure was performed on November 5, 2011 at the Winter Haven Hospital in Winter Haven, Florida by Urologic Microsurgeon Dr. Sijo Parekattil, as part of the Robotic Assisted Microsurgical & Endoscopic Society (RAMSES) 1st Annual Multispecialty Robotic Microsurgery Symposium.
