Euronext Deploys ADVA FSP 3000

Adva Optical Networking’s FSP 3000 is a scalable optical transport solution created to cater to today’s exploding bandwidth demands. ADVA, Corning Team Up to Demo 100G Metro Fiber

ADVA Optical Networking and Corning (News – Alert) Incorporated are planning a joint demo of 100 Gbps fiber network intended for metropolitan areas.

“Today’s metro environment is one of the most demanding in the entire network,” Stephan Rettenberger, vice president of Marketing for ADVA Optical Networking (News – Alert) said. “Service providers and enterprises are continually being challenged to transport more data while at the same time reduce costs. nbso . This demonstration is designed with the sole aim of underlining how this can be done; how you can use direct-detection 100G and non-zero dispersion shifted fiber to effectively transport more data at the lowest cost per bit. Working with Corning, we will be able to showcase something that can have a huge impact on the metro.”

The network, built using ADVA FSP 3000 and Corning LEAF fiber, will be demonstrated at the OFC/NFOEC in Los Angeles. It is capable of transmitting data over 125 km (77 miles) without the need for inline amplification or compensating for passive dispersion. The standard network segment length for single-mode fiber is 40 km (around 25 miles). The length of the network segments is adequate for widespread deployment by major carriers.

The demo is an attempt to show network providers that they can easily deploy reliable, fast and cost-effective fiber networks to metro areas.

ADVA said in a press release that their 100G metro solution can reach up to 500 km (310 miles) and is energy efficient.

“Corning is delighted to collaborate with ADVA Optical Networking to demonstrate this highly complementary combination of transmission equipment and fiber for the metro and regional application space,” Barry Linchuck, division vice president and director for worldwide marketing for Corning’s optical fiber, said. “For more than a decade, LEAF optical fiber has provided compelling value, particularly in long-haul applications, as demonstrated by installation of more than 30 million kilometers. As demand for high-speed broadband drives networks to higher capacity, it is exciting to be able to demonstrate the continuing contribution that LEAF optical fiber can make to efficient network operations.”

ADVA Optical Networking, Openreach Launch Optical Spectrum Access Service for UK Enterprise Networks

To meet increasingly demanding business needs of U.K.’s enterprise community, ADVA Optical Networking and Openreach, the infrastructure division of BT Group (News – Alert), have jointly launched a new optical spectrum access (OSA) service. Part of Openreach’s optical spectrum service (OSS) portfolio, OSA provides new levels of network connectivity.

Configured to specific networking demands and accommodating a full range of protocols and service interfaces, OSA has been built with the sole purpose of moving large amounts of data faster, farther and more securely, stated ADVA Optical Networking (News – Alert).

Germany’s Finanz Informatik Deploys Encrypted Optical Networking for Data Security

Today, security of information is critical to businesses of all sizes. Considering the rate at which hackers are stealing data from websites and online data resources, companies are taking extra steps to protect confidential information. Therefore, to secure customers’ mission critical data, Germany’s IT service provider to the financial industry, Finanz Informatik Technology Services (FI-TS), has deployed  ADVA Optical Networking’s (News – Alert) FSP 3000’s encryption technology.

In a statement, Jörg Göttmann, network engineer at FI-TS commented, “Our customers allow its business-critical applications to run through our data centers. We cannot allow the loss or theft of data under any circumstances.”

According to ADVA Optical, FI-TS’s new data centers offer business continuity, disaster recovery, as well as storage area networking (SAN) and MPLS-services to customers in the finance sector because they deploy redundant fiber links with AES256 encryption. To improve network efficiency and control, while reducing power consumption and space, FI-TS uses a large portion of the available module interfaces, including 2, 4, and 8 Gbps Fibre Channel, and 1 and 10 Gbps Ethernet or various combinations.

In another statement, Hartmut Müller-Leitloff, VP Central Europe, ADVA Optical Networking said, “The FSP 3000 provides integrated encryption technology based on internationally-accepted standards for an excellent price-performance ratio.” “We have worked on successful data center interconnection projects with FI-TS since 2000 and are proud to take this step together into the next generation of secure and efficient data transmission.”

As per ADVA Optical’s explanation, the FSP 3000 is a scalable wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system specifically designed for large enterprises and service providers that require a flexible, cost-effective system that will multiplex, transport and protect high-speed data, storage, voice and video applications over fiber optic networks.
