InfoRelay Deploys Ekinops 360 Platform to Interconnect Data Centers and Colocation Facilities

Using the Ekinops?(News – Alert) 360 optical transport platform, InfoRelay plans to interconnect its Washington D.C. area data centers and colocation facilities including the company’s recently opened Dulles Exchange data center, in Herndon, Virginia.

The Ekinops 360 dynamic, multi-reach transport system is stated to be a next generation optical transport platform that provides DWDM and CWDM in a single product and addresses metro, regional, and long haul applications. Powered by the T-Chip (Transport on a chip) technology, it is designed to handle data rates from 100Mbps to 100G today and can scale to 400G and beyond. It also offers a wide range of scalable options ranging from “pay-as-you-grow” amplifiers to a truly scalable ROADM?(News – Alert) and 100G solution.

InfoRelay’s initial Ekinops 360 deployment will provide transport for gigabit Ethernet, fiber channel, and 10G LAN services over a high-capacity fiber-optic infrastructure and should connect its four data center operations in northern Virginia.

“We needed a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective solution that supported all the necessary protocols, such as Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber Channel, video, and SONET. RagingWire Deploys Initial Carriers for Carrier Neutral Facility in Virginia

RagingWire Data Centers has revealed that its Ashburn, Virginia facility has deployed its initial carriers including Level3 Communications, XO Communications, Verizon Business, FiberGate, Abovenet (News – Alert) Communications, Fiberlight Communications and Yellow Fiber Communications.

The carrier neutral facility offers complementary space and power for qualified facility-based fiber providers.

“Carrier interest in the RagingWire Virginia data center has been extremely high,” said Yatish Mishra, president and CEO of RagingWire, in a statement. “We see fiber providers as our partners in providing the highest possible levels of service to our customers, many of whom have extremely large bandwidth requirements.”

Carriers were selected on the basis of several criteria including customer demand, high bandwidth availability, unique capabilities and competitive pricing. They are capable of delivering a variety of services from dark fiber and optical wavelengths to conventional telephone service. These carriers are accessible for RagingWire VA1 customers via fiber cross-connects.

The company has also selected several other carriers for possible deployments, officials at RagingWire said.

“Our commitment to highly available network capacity is unparalleled,” said Daniel Golding, vice president and general manager of RagingWire Northern Virginia in a statement. “We want to ensure that the capacity our customers demand is always available by utilizing multi-carrier, diversely-routed and protected cross connects.”

Level 3 Announces Presentation at Citi 2012 Entertainment, Media and Telecommunications Conference by Its Executive VP and CFO Sunit Patel

Latisys Extends Fiber Network Connectivity with tw telecom
