ADVA Optical Networking’s 100G Metro Solution Chosen by Amsterdam Internet Exchange

ADVA?(News – Alert) Optical Networking recently announced that the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) has chosen its 100G Metro solution to play a major role in new core network infrastructure. The 100G Metro solution from ADVA will be responsible for connecting data center locations throughout Amsterdam and will also double AMS-IX’s existing network capacity enabling it to cope with the exponential bandwidth growth and meets its customer’s demands.

University of Arizona to Research Electro-optical Effect on Lightwave’s Perkinamine Indigo

Lightwave Logic, Inc. recently announced the University of Arizona will continue with its research on the electro-optical effect on its Perkinamine Indigo, which was found to be higher than 250 picometers per volt at 1550-nanometers when leveraging the conventional Teng-Man testing protocol.

Initial recordings were taken during demonstrations conducted at the University of Colorado and Photon-X.

“We’ll continue to test Perkinamine Indigo using the standard Teng-Man method at Photon-X and CU Boulder with promising results,” said Jim Marcelli, CEO at Lightwave Logics. “Our internal development effort on the balance of our Perkinamine family of chromophores is moving forward as planned. We continue to work with our major microelectronics company and large system supplier through the continued testing.”

The company is currently working on the development of advanced Non Linear Optical Polymer Materials Platform for high speed fiber-optic data communications and optical computing applications. The research at the University of Arizona will continue to prove the validity of the results demonstrated at the University of Colorado and Photon-X.

During initial measurements, the University Of Arizona College of Optical Sciences recorded interesting effects, and is keen on pursuing further research to gain a better understanding of the origin of Perkinamine Indigo’s response.

Allied Fiber Meets Demand for Dark Fiber with Development of Network-Neutral Fiber System

With the high demand for always-on Internet services and fiber networks only continuing to increase as businesses and residential areas demand reliable capacity for their networks, companies like Allied Fiber (News – Alert) are working hard to build and operate its own network to meet those requirements.

The first phase, which is currently underway, includes a route that will span Chicago to New York and on to Ashburn, Virginia and is expected to be finished by the end of 2012. Phase 2 of the network will stretch from the end of Phase 1 in Ashburn Virginia to Atlanta and then to Miami.
