Renesas Electronics has introduced a charging control IC designed to grasp serve miniaturisation and stable charging control for singular dungeon lithium-ion batteries used in unstable devices.
According to a semiconductor specialist, a R2A20055NS IC has a series of insurance facilities for unstable apparatus including battery overvoltage insurance and charging timers. The device also includes functions that exercise a charging profiles stipulated by a Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), permitting it to exercise stable charging control.
The IC is designed to yield control pins for any retard to extent a submit current. Current extent options are 100mA, 500mA, or no limit. This enables a device to perform battery charging according to a USB energy available.
As good as submit pins with withstand voltage of 25V, Renesas has combined new overvoltage insurance functions to a submit pins. These are designed to strengthen focus systems from a mistake that occurs when a energy adapter or USB wire is connected.
The R2A20055NS comes in a 2×2.5mm ultra miniature, high thermal abolition 10pin HUSON package.
Samples of a device will be accessible in Dec 2011, with mass prolongation scheduled to start in Mar 2012.
