Zayo Adds Dark Fiber to ExteNet Open Network Enabling Distributed Network Solution
Zayo Group (News – Alert) announced plans to add dark fiber to ExteNet Systems, Inc.’s open network, to enable a Distributed Network solution. ExteNet builds and operates outdoor and indoor wireless networks for wireless service providers, government agencies, and transportation corridors across North America.
Ross Manire, CEO of ExteNet stated in a release, “ExteNet’s open distributed networks provide wireless coverage to multiple wireless carriers and enables us to accommodate technology changes and growth.”
Zayo a provider of fiber-based Bandwidth Infrastructure and network-neutral colocation and interconnection services will be deploying a metro dark fiber network in and around Indianapolis.
Steve Williams, vice president and general manager of Zayo’s central region said that the company’s concentrated metro fiber network within Indiana will ensure the provision of capacity and diversity for service providers like ExteNet.
ExteNet will be using Zayo’s fiber assets to cater to the needs of its wireless carrier customers who require greater bandwidth now. This extended dark fiber access helps ExteNet and its clients to benefit from the network growth as it can support bandwidth demands expected in Indianapolis o cover sporting events in future.
Zayo serves wireline and wireless carriers, data centers, Internet content and services companies, besides high bandwidth enterprises and federal, state and local government agencies. The company offers its services over regional, metro and fiber-to-the-tower networks.
The network deployment of Zayo includes 44,000 route miles, covering several states besides including numerous buildings on-net, Points-of-Presence (POPs), cell towers on-net, and colocation spaces.
According to a TMCnet release, Zayo Group recently announced that its brand of services will be leveraged for the expansion of the EAGLE-Net Alliance network capabilities across regions in Colorado and Wyoming based on an agreement between both companies.
This expansion of the EAGLE-Net Alliance network is expected to include 511 miles of fiber connecting locations that cover the Cheyenne, Wyoming region all the way to Branson, Colorado, close to the New Mexico border.
